A collaborative effort of the UK-Brazil CADDE project including the LSHTM have shown how real time insights into disease spread can be shown using online web apps. The team have developed an app to monitor the development of the COVID-19 epidemic in Brazil in real time at a local level.
In their publication in The Lancet Regional Health – Americas, the group emphasise how essential it is to compare in real-time, local COVID-19 data between different areas to understand transmission, measure effects of interventions, and predict the course of the epidemic.
The COVID-19 Local Information Comparison (CLIC-Brazil app) allows real-time visualisation of COVID-19 data in Brazil at the municipality level.
